Programme of Events for 2015

Please note that dates, details and times of our public events may be subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control. 

Every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month up to and including the 13th December (excluding January) Nothe Fort Artillery Display Team.

The Fort’s Artillery Volunteers show off their musketry and cannon handling skills with several big bangs.

Normal entry prices apply 

August 22nd and 23rd - Victorian weekend 10.30am - 4.30pm.   A colourful event involving re-enactors from our Nothe Fort Artillery and Cumberland Guard from Portsmouth.   A great family weekend.

Saturday  - Demonstrations of marching, musket drill, cannon firing, drums and bugles by our Fort Artillery, craft and food stalls, games, Maypole dancing, Morris dancing, Victorian school room.    

Sunday  -    Queen Victoria will be visiting to inspect our Fort Artillery who will also be joined on this day by members of the Cumberland Guard from Portsmouth.   She will leave with her lady in waiting, from outside the Pavilion Theatre at 10.30am in a horse drawn carriage led by a piper and drummer and escorted by members of the Fort Artillery.   The procession route is as follows  Pavilion Theatre to Kings Statue down St Thomas Street over the Town Bridge, round the harbour and up to Barrack Road, where they will be met by the rest of the Artillery and the Cumberland Guard to escort them into the Fort.
There will be military displays and cannon firing by both re-enactment groups on this day plus visiting craft and food stalls and Victorian school room.

Come and be amazed at the detail and accuracy of the scaled matchstick replicas of modern warships on display. The whole of our exhibition area is filled with these exquisite models that have taken one man a lifetime to build. Open during normal opening hours.

Wednesday 28th October  11.am – 4pm  Bedlam & Broomsticks

Come and enjoy Halloween Activities at The Nothe fort Ghosts,  Ghosts,   Ghosts………..
There are plenty at the Nothe Fort, as many people will testify, and that most ghostly time is  fast – Halloween.

There will be a mini Ghost walk, lots of creepy crafts. There will be Prizes for the most imaginative fancy dress.

Christmas Fayre: Sunday 6th December from 11am to 4.30pm

Come and get into the true spirit of a Victorian Christmas. 

Santa Grotto, Children's crafts, seasonal food and craft stalls, treasure hunt, face painting.   New this year will be a reindeer hunt. There will be prizes for the best Victorian costumes with judging at 1pm. Why not sing along to music by the Ukuleleans. The Fort View Café will be open for lots of festive treats and don't forget to visit our Gift Shop for some special Christmas gifts . christmas tree 2014.jpg
