Home Front Weekend: Saturday 26th & Sunday 27th July - Family Days  10.30am to 4.30pm

A whole weekend of living history.   The Bomb Disposal Squad will be giving displays on the various types of devices used during World War II and will, hopefully, be de-fusing the bomb!   The Northamptonshire Home Guard will be mounting a display, doing rifle drill and marching practice – join in and see if you are fit enough to enrol in “Dad’s army”.   You can also try your hand at sending messages in Morse at the Weymouth Radio stand, who will also be demonstrating wartime communications equipment.

There will be demonstrations and displays on Make Do and Mend  - learn how to darn a sock!, Dig for Victory - find out how to re-cycle your waste food to feed the pigs,  and Food rationing  -sample the delicacies on offer and get your wartime recipes here.    There will even be a 1940s hairdresser and make up artist on site so you can really look the part and if you feel poorly the doctor will be on standby with his Austin 7.   If you are interested in veteran cars, there will be others to see and a few military vehicles as well.

Music will be provided by the Ukulaleans, the Switch Quartet and the Decadettes and a group of dancers will demonstrate the Jive and encourage you to join in the dancing and singing.
This is a weekend for all the family to enjoy.
