Nothe Fort Evacuee Experience Half Term Special

Monday 18th & Wednesday 20th February 2013
From 10.15am to 2.30pm during February Half Term (Not suitable for children under 5)

mrs mop.jpg These activities are normally only available for school groups doing World War II as part of the national curriculum. However this is a chance for all the family to come. It is also a good opportunity for teachers to come along to see how this enjoyable interactive learning experience works with a view to bringing school groups in the future.   The Fort offers great educational value and fun for the children and adults alike. The more senior members of our community find reliving this real life experience fascinating. You can experience an old 1940s school room supervised by a very strict headmaster complete with cane, Air raid shelter drill, Weymouth at War, World War II shop and rationing and Mrs Mop doing the washing at home.

Attendance is by ticket only and numbers will be restricted to manageable levels, so please book early to guarantee your place on one of the two designated days.

Easter Sunday 31st March from 10.30am to 4.30pm Pirates at the Fort

There will also be a mock battle between the Nothe Fort Artillery and the pirates with lots of smoke, gun fire and shouting.

This is an event for all the family with many activities going on throughout the day to entertain the children

Saturday 22nd June  - 7.30pm  "And Finally..." The Ultimate Tribute to Phil Collins : 

The show aspires to accurately represent a performance of Phil Collins utilising some of the top musicians in the UK Tribute field who are all of a like mind in reproducing the distinctive Collins sound.

The 2 hour show captures the main highlights from an original concert, including timeless classics as 'Another Day In Paradise, In The Air Tonight, Easy Lover, Against All Odds, Sussudio, Take Me Home’ and many more… with double drum solos also featured to replicate the essence of a Phil Collins performance.

Saturday July 20th - 6pm (Open for Picnics from 5pm) Wessex Actors Company Presents Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest - Directed by Linsey O'Neill.

Nothe Fort is proud to be working in partnership with the Wessex Actors Company who will be performing for the first time at this fantastic venue.

wac.jpgWessex Actors Company (WAC) was founded by Jo Puttick with the initial aim of producing professional theatre each summer in the open air, principally in Dorset. Their aim is to provide high quality theatre as entertainment, whilst also enhancing audiences’ understanding and perception of the play being enjoyed. Actors will be experienced, local and professional, rather than being brought in from ‘outside’, as they believe there is so much local talent that deserves to be showcased.  Audiences can enjoy a picnic prior to being entertained by first class drama.

August 10th and 11th - Nothe Fort Victorian Fayre 10.30am to 4.30pm A colourful event involving re-enactors from the Nothe Fort Artillery Volunteers with Bugles, Drums and Cannons.  victorian fayre2.jpg

The two day period will be packed full of events, many interactive.

Sideshows include: Hoopla: Coconut Shy and Stocks: Also Ghost Talks: Victorian School Room: Face Painting: Maypole Dancing: Fossil Painting: Victorian Crafts:

August 10th August - 1st September -  events-matchstick.jpgMatchstick Fleet Returns

 

This fantastic display returns for a second visit this year. Come and be amazed at the detail and accuracy of the scaled matchstick replicas of modern warships on display. The whole of our exhibition area is filled with these exquisite models that have taken one man a lifetime to build. A very special and unique collection.

Sunday 25th August at 8pm:  Abba's Angels (Gates open from 6.30pm for picnics)

 

Abba's Angels, one of the UK's premier Abba Tribute groups have been established since 2000. Featuring some incredibly talented singers and musicians they offer one of the most captivating and authentic tributes to one of the greatest bands of all time. They have appeared on BBC TV's Children in Need twice, featured on Star for a Night, been recommended in the Sun newspaper and on the front cover of a Sunday Times Magazine. In March 2010 Abba's Angels were interviewed on Sky News in front of half a million viewers regarding the rumours of an Abba Reunion! abba angels.jpg

Come and enjoy Halloween Activities at The Nothe fort

Ghosts,  Ghosts,   Ghosts………..
There are plenty at the Nothe Fort, as many people will testify, and that most ghostly time is approaching fast – Halloween.

On Sunday 28th October from 10.30am – 4.30pm. There will be a mini Ghost walk, lots of creepy crafts. There will be Prizes for the most imaginative fancy dress – judging at 2.30pm
